Capriola
Capriola recorder quartet is playing early and modern music. Capriola gives
own concerts and concerts with other instrumentalists and chamber choirs.
The members of Capriola are Irene Hooimeijer, Kees Konings, Joost de Ridder
and Frans Schröder.
Capriola strives after a consort sound inspired by Renaissance ideas, also
practiced on modern music. The ensemble mainly plays on handmade recorders
after historical examples and has a consort of Renaissance
recorders (Hier.s) and Rafi recorders by Francesco Li Virghi (Italy). The
tuning of these recorders is a = 440 Hz. Capriola also has Baroque recorders
and a Baroque bassoon in a = 415 Hz. By using low recorders and a bass
dulcian (Renaissance bassoon) the ensemble is able to play at the same pitch as a choir
is singing.
Capriola receives quartet lessons form Bertho Driever (Amsterdam Loeki
Stardust Quartet) and has received lessons from Bert Honig (Brisk) and
Gabriele Wahl.
